Why I changed from Yoga to Feldenkrais
While teaching Yoga a number of years ago, I was introduced to the Feldenkrais Method® – a method of somatic education grounded in understanding the plasticity of the brain – the current frontier of medical science. From a substantial career in health and well-being, the gentleness and effectiveness of the Feldenkrais method was an eye opener to me. I used the technique method to heal my own injuries and haven’t looked back.
Now, as a qualified Feldenkrais Practitioner, I am an expert in movement education. I use the Feldenkrais Method to teach people a smarter way of moving so they can enjoy their lives more. I help people understand how the body was designed to move and function. Those who have lost hope are often excited to discover it is possible to improve and to heal. Learning how to take control of your body is a great investment in better health. Better movement means a better life.

I no longer teach Yoga as the possibilities for transformation using the Feldenkrais Method are faster and greater. I am a current member of the New Zealand Feldenkrais Guild, and was Secretary of the NZFG for six years.
How I work to improve your ease of movement and remove aches and pain
People of all ages and stages come to me to improve their health and fitness through better movement. In my classes, workshops and private lessons the principles of learning are the same. I use many of the original teachings of Moshe Feldenkrais, still unmatched in their genius, to help you discover your patterns of movement and learn improved ways to move. Muscle tension, coordination, balance, flexibility, strength and ease in movement can all be improved with this method. The mind and body are connected, so as your body function improves, so does your mind. You can feel calmer, more relaxed, more flexible in your thinking, too.
You will develop your kinaesthetic sense and become more aware of how you move, feel, think, and act. You will learn to recognise old habits that contribute to the aches and pains and limited movement, and develop the insight to choose different ways of doing things; replacing your old habits. The more you do this, the more these new habits become spontaneous and automatic.
The most enjoyable and satisfying part of my work is seeing my clients delight in their improved self-awareness and discovery that not only can they move and feel and look better, but they have gained the confidence and self-knowledge to manage themselves. The quality of their lives change significantly for the better.
